The objectives for this lab are to 1) measure the dissolved oxygen concentration in samples from the ocean and a canal and then measure the gross productivity and the net productivity, as well as the respiration rate of the samples, 2) to identify any factors (biotic and abiotic) that could be affecting the dissolved oxygen rate in these aquatic systems, and 3) to show the effect light has on the photosynthesis occurring in the autotrophic organisms within the sample.
